What are the general requirements to obtain your real estate license in Ontario

The main purpose of this page is to trace out the clear image of the requirements to become a real estate broker in Ontario, Canada.

Sometimes, it could be to help people sell their home or other times to help people buy or mediate between the lease and sale of a particular property.  When it comes to selling or purchasing new home by anyone, the professional real estate agent is often required to accomplish that task properly. 

You need to contact the nearest licensing agency of Real Estate in Ontario (OREA) before starting your undertaking to become a real estate salesperson or broker.  In Ontario, OREA administers the educational courses.  Don't forget to study the list of requirements that are necessary to become an authorized real estate agent in Ontario.  It is OREA that governs the licensing in Ontario.

Once you hold the list of requirements that is necessary for you to become a registered real estate agent in Ontario, you'll need to contact OREA to find out which school or institution in your area and see if they offer the courses necessary for you to become a real estate agent in Ontario.  You can check out the yellow page under the section of “Real Estate – Schools”.

Once you are enrolled in the OREA College (or other real estate school or institution within Ontario), you should give your full effort in the study process and also for completing your class work, even though this work can sometimes be done at home.  After you take the required subjects, you will be required to pass exams for licensure exam of real estate agent in Ontario. 

Although, these classes will require your class attendance you may be able to study outside of class too.  Once the time for the designated examination arrives you'll be properly educated to pass the exam.   You then need to write the exams and achieve the minimum required results and then you will be able to become a licensed real estate agent in Ontario.

After you've passed the licensure exam, get ready to experience the real estate business.  Usually you will choose between a salesperson either in other position at the related field such as residential or commercial real estate at the beginning.  After you learn and become experienced in the world of real estate, you then slowly move up the ladder in education and experience in order to become a real estate broker.  In addition, you can select to work on your own as a broker owner and possibly manage a brokerage of agents if you wish.

One of your main tasks when you are a real estate agent is to act as an intermediary between buyers and sellers of real estate, and also find out who are the sellers desiring to sell and the buyers wishing to purchase. 

These are the general requirements that are required to become a real estate agent in Ontario, Canada.  It’s impossible to become a real estate agent in Ontario without meeting and passing the minimum education requirements.
