There are 3 courses for the initial period of training called course 1, course 2 and course 3 general and course 3 advanced residential or you could take course 3 advanced commercial

Principals of mortgage financing Ontario Real Estate

This is an Elective course, one of the 3 electives

Fee: $430

This course explores the mortgage market and provides hands-on exposure to forms, applications and mortgage calculations.

Course 3 General - The Real Estate Transaction & Course 3 Advanced - The Commercial Real Estate Transaction

The Fee: for this Course 3 General $330

Course 3 Advanced Commercial $330

Pre-requisites: Successful completion of Course 1 and Course 2

This course will provide a detailed overview of the real estate transaction, from listing agreement through to the final sale.

Students in the pre-registration segment of the program must complete Course 3 General and either Course 3 Advanced Residential OR Course 3 Advanced Commercial. The remaining Course 3 Advanced not selected must be taken during the Articling segment. Please note: Course 3 General need not be repeated during the Articling segment.

Study Methods
Choose from one of the following study methods:

The E-Learning study method is available for Course 3 General only. The e-Learning portion is followed by 40 hours of classroom work.

Correspondence plus 40 hour Classroom

Students who enroll for the e-Learning or correspondence segment must, at the same time, select and enroll for the subsequent 40 hour classroom segment to take place following the suggested completion date (approximately 30 days as noted on the e-Learning and correspondence schedule below).

80 hour Classroom

 

Once you have completed your articling period of 2 years, you may take the courses required to become a real estate broker

The Broker Course for becoming an Ontario Real Estate Broker

This is the Fee: $805 ($830 for sessions beginning after January 1, 2010)

Pre-Requisites: Completion of the Pre-registration segment, the Articling segment, plus one additional elective.*

This is an optional course registrants must take should they wish to pursue registration as a broker. The registrant must have completed the Articling segment plus one additional elective prior to taking this course. This course covers the establishment, operation and management of a real estate brokerage.

To become registered as a broker, an applicant must:

Be at least 18 years of age.

Be a resident of Canada.

Include supporting documentation as required with the application, and pay appropriate fees.

Have been registered and employed as a salesperson for at least 24 of the 36 months immediately preceding the date of application, or have equivalent experience.

Have completed courses of study and passed written examinations all as approved by the Registrar with a pass mark of not less than 75%. The final examination must have been completed within the one year preceding application.

Make an application within one year of the Broker Course examination date. If an application is made 12-18 months after the examination date, the exam must be re-taken. If an application is made 18 months or later from the examination date, the Broker Course must be repeated. The application must be made on the prescribed form.

Have a good past record of financial responsibility and conduct.

The Broker Course must be completed within 12 months of the original e-learning or correspondence start date. If necessary, re-write examinations must be completed within one year of the original examination date. No extensions are granted.

* Effective April 1, 2009, registrants who have not completed Phase 3 Commercial must complete Course 3 Advanced Commercial as the additional elective requirement.
