It is very unfortunate that I have to write this page and explain to real estate brokers and sales representatives in particular, that it is a violation of our Code of Ethics, a violation of the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act and a violation of the rules of conduct of a realtor as specified by RECO for an agent to hold yourself out as a buyer or seller to obtain information from another registered broker or salesperson.
You should also know that when you browse this page and any page on my website (or any site for that matter) your IP address is logged by my server. (See for yourself, click IP address) Your IP address is unique to you and your computer and it is very simple and easy for me to view my server logs and see your IP address. It is also very easy to trace this IP address back to your computer. Your IP address is given to you by your internet provider, whether it's Rogers, Bell Sympatico, Cogeco, AOL or whomever and anyone can find out the actual address that the IP address is registered. This means that with a few simple steps, I can find out who you are. You have given your permission for me to log this information at this page.
If I find out that a buyer or seller in fact turns out to be a registered broker or salesperson I will initiate a complaint with RECO and an ethics claim with your real estate board, especially if you are a member of TREB.
