There are four major events that have become annual traditions in Milton, each welcoming the arrival of a new season. And the Saturday morning Milton Farmer’s Market has been a tradition since 1972. |

Steam Era Show Labour Day Weekend (www.steam-era.com) at the Milton Fair Grounds . Take a stroll down memory lane while you enjoy the steam engines and tractor displays. There are operating steam traction engines and stationary steam engines and gas tractors and the event shows the evolution of steam to gas powered engines. There is also a tractor pull event. This year (2010) marks the 50th anniversary of the tractor and steam engine show.
Milton Fall Fair, September 24, 25, 26 in 2010 (www.miltonfair.com) at the Milton Fair Grounds. This year marks the 157th anniversary of this event. There is much to do at the Milton Fall Fair like watching the demolition derby, enjoying the many rides at the back of the fairgrounds, visiting the horses, llamas and chickens in the petting zoo and kids can enter their pets in the very popular Pet Show. There are also many food stands and prizes to be won. A great time to be had by all.
Milton Santa Claus Parade, Sunday November 21, 2010 (www.miltonsantaclausparade.org) down the town streets of Milton. Organized by community volunteers and supported by local businesses and organizations, this event is always popular when the Christmas season rolls around. This year’s theme will be “Christmas around the world.”
Canada Day, July 1 (www.miltoncanadaday.ca) The largest one day event attended in Milton is full of celebration and fun. The day starts with breakfast with Milton’s veterans at Victoria Park, the swearing in ceremony for new Canadians, and then lots of live entertainment and music. There is plenty to eat and there are Kids Zone, Teen Zone and Family Activities at Milton Fair Grounds. The day is completed with a majestic fireworks display under the stars.
Milton Farmer’s Market from mid May to mid October (www.miltonchamber.ca/milton-farmers-market). Enjoy the “farm fresh goodness” and good old-fashioned hospitality of Milton’s local farmers and artisans. Starting in the middle of May on Saturday mornings from 7:00am – 12:00pm and along Main Street from Martin to James Streets, you will find fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, baked goods, fresh cut flowers and locally made crafts on display. The Milton Chamber of Commerce (www.miltonchamber.ca) runs the Saturday morning event which started in 1972.
